Frozen Birria Tacos

This is a Frozen Item Ships Mon / Tue / Wed · Urban NZ only

We cook the beef with Mexican passion for 12 hours to achieve the most incredible broth. That broth is the key to the birria, made with guajillo and pasilla chillies. This is how the meat turns out juicy, tender and so rich that it becomes the best Birria Tacos ever.
We pack 3 tacos with 80g of beef each. Lots of beef, bold flavours, made with love from our heart. This is the beginning of Mexican Life, just for you.
So beefy! So meaty! So cheesy! So greasy! Just like the Mexican eats.
It comes ready to eat, with the broth, the Borderline Salsa and the pico de gallo. Just heat up the tacos and broth once they are thawed, then add the Borderline Salsa and pico de gallo to the tacos and broth after reheating.

100/10 actual Mexican food! Had birria tacos and jarritos, and I'm celiac. The consomme was top tier.

The beef is so tender with a very generous amount. Best taco I have ever had. Worth it for sure.

FAQs

Got questions? We've cooked up some answers.

¿What will come with my order of frozen birria tacos?

Every order of frozen Birria Tacos includes 3 generously served tacos, a sachet of consomé, pico de gallo and Borderline Sauce.

¿What is Birria exactly? Didn't get the memo on that one.

Birria is a traditional Mexican dish. Beef slow-cooked in a broth of dried chiles and spices until it is tender, then served in tacos with the broth, the consomé, on the side for dipping.

¿Are these authentic? How do I know what to look for if I'm looking for authenticity?

Yes. We are all Mexicans, cooking the recipes we grew up with, using real chiles and corn tortillas and no shortcuts. Real birria has a deep red consomé, beef that falls apart, and a smoky chile aroma. That is what you get.

¿Are they spicy?

Nothing is spicy unless you decide to add the sauce to the Birria Tacos.

¿What do they taste like?

Unlike anything you've tasted in Aotearoa. This is a delightful, smoky, traditional chile flavour infused with complex spices that will make your tongue very happy.

¿Is this product Gluten Free?

We do not use ingredients that contain gluten, but we do process gluten in our kitchen.

¿Is this product fully cooked?

Yes, the tacos are fully cooked and snap frozen for maximum quality.

¿How do I heat them up?

Thaw the tacos by submerging the container in warm water for a few minutes until soft, then heat them in a pan with a little bit of oil until you can feel the Authentic Mexican aroma in your kitchen and the taco is hot from the inside. For the pico de gallo, sauce and consomé, submerge the whole sachet in warm water until thawed.

¿How do I serve and eat my tacos?

On a plate, line up your heated tacos and garnish with the pico de gallo and Borderline Sauce. After that, in a small container, serve up the consomé with some of the pico de gallo mixed in and place it on the side. The traditional way to eat it is by submerging the tacos in the consomé, then taking a bite of the taco. Or, for a cleaner way, take one bite of the taco and one sip of the consomé.

¿When do you ship, and where do you deliver?

Because the birria ships frozen, we only dispatch Monday to Wednesday so it stays cold on the way to you. We ship to urban addresses across New Zealand, but unfortunately we cannot deliver to rural addresses.

¿Can I use a microwave to prepare them?

Just… don't. They will be a soggy mess.
